The prints explore how sorrow accompanies feelings of fragility, confusion and overwhelming despair that, with time, will gently fade away. 愁 (chóu, meaning ‘sorrow’) was screenprinted onto tissue and photographed in water. 07:04:31 +0000 Christy Chan https://christychan.co/Kim Kim&nbsp; (김) 2018 Packaging Kim (김) is a seaweed snack sold as a luxury souvenir from Jeollado, a province in Korea known for its seaweed exports. Weaving a story between user and product, the box drawer design is reusable for storing ephemera and memories from the customer’s visit to Korea. The box becomes an object to be treasured, giving it a second life and minimising wastage. Kim’s name has two meanings. ‘Kim’ is the name for edible dried seaweed (a fixture in Korean cuisine) and the most common surname in Korea. These two ideas present Kim as a quintessentially Korean product. Kim’s packaging does not use imagery. Instead, its natural colours and flecked paper subtly allude to the product in invitation to eat with the eyes. The brief was to create a brand identity and supporting collateral for NATMUS’ online media platform. NATMUS has a rich history as Denmark’s largest cultural and historical institution. The aim of NM Stories was to connect more with NATMUS’ audience and to show both the museum’s traditional and modern sides. A brand story was developed, portraying history as being active and rewritten by those who play a part in it—everyone. The overarching idea was that ‘The past affects the present and the present affects the future.’ Paper folding was chosen to represent this idea. Every fold of a piece of paper leads to the next, just as history takes twists and turns to develop into a ‘bigger picture’. The paper imagery also nods to the tactility of old books while its dynamic look is reflective of&nbsp;NM Stories’ digital context. poster, for The Red Room Poetry Group. The Cabinet of Lost and Found is an event where objects and poems are installed into ‘Cabinets of Curiosities’ and displayed in multiple locations in Sydney. ‘Cabinets of Curiosities’ are a precursor to the modern museum; a collection of rare and special objects people displayed in their homes. Referencing poetry and ‘Cabinets of Curiosities’, the poster compares cabinets to Chinese writing grids and an open book. Gradients invite the viewer to search deeper into the ‘Cabinets of Curiosities’ and immerse themselves into a world of poetry.
