As we journey through the internet, we leave behind a data trail that is collected, stored and used by its information systems. Algorithms interpret these trails, transforming them into prescribed experiences.
Breadcrumbs is a suite of Critical Design experiments that speculate novel ways of understanding our complex relationship with the internet’s information systems. By visualising the invisible exchanges that occur with and without our knowledge, Breadcrumbs challenges our ambivalence towards these illusive systems.
We are like Hansel and Gretel, beginning to unravel our entanglement with the internet’s systems. We are both consumers and the consumed.
